The 1 Star Award is a clear stepping stone to becoming a paddler. Designed as a basic award, the 1 Star is the level people would typically reach after an introductory course of 6 hours’ quality water time. This award is a sheltered water award that can be taken in any craft.
1 Star Overview
Recommended from 14 years of age
Guided Learning Hours: 6
- Candidates must be water confident and, ideally, should be able to swim (this is desirable but not essential)
- If candidates are under 14, the Paddlepower (Go Canoeing/Skills Building/Paddlepower) program may be more appropriate
