In June 2020, we introduced the NEW Performance Coach Award, aimed at experienced coaches who want to get better at coaching the paddlers they work with, and for those who seek recognition that their delivery meets enhanced levels of sophistication.

NEW Coaching Podcast

Introduced in September 2020, the NEW supportive points based Continuous Professional Development (CPD) process. Aligned with our Educational Philosophy, CPD is individualised, allowing the Instructor, Coach and Leader to consider what areas they may need to develop.

NEW Freestyle Videos
NEW Freestyle videos to support those getting started in Freestyle, as well as coaches and aspirant coaches who want to show other people what you can do in a Freestyle boat.

First Aid Extension eLearning
During the pandemic, BCAB introduced the extension eLearning to support anyone who needed to renew their First Aid. Anyone who was required to renew their First Aid qualification from the 16th March 2020 and has been unable to access a course, can complete the FREE eLearning course which keeps your First Aid current until 31st March 2021.
Introduction to Paddlesport eLearning
Aimed at new or returning paddlers, the eLearning is designed to be easy to use, interactive and takes no longer than 20 minutes to complete. As always, there are also several fun games to help you learn along the way! A great resource for Instructors, Coaches and Leaders to share with their new paddlers.

Supporting the athlete development framework, our What It Takes To Progress (WITTP) model, English Institute of Sport Strength and Conditioning Coach, Helen Shipman, takes us through some of the key lifts and exercises of a youth strength and conditioning programme.
The British Canoeing Polo Handbook is a great resource for anybody interested in taking part or coaching Canoe Polo. It’s full of diagrams and photos that go through the basics, formations and tips on the Polo discipline.

In June 2018, British Canoeing announced the rebrand of the Delivery Centre function to Paddles Up Training, to be able to better support Learners and Providers, as well as provide more clarity.

The Coach Award eLearning can now be accessed by anyone as a stand alone resource. The eLearning is a great resource that aims to support existing or aspirant coaches on their learning journey.

Technical Group Recruitment
In 2020, we recruited for the Polo, Slalom, Canoe and Touring Tech Groups to advise and assist in the development and inclusion of the disciplines within British Canoeing Coaching and Qualifications. With a number of broad ranging applications and varying experiences, British Canoeing was pleased to be able to select a diverse group of individuals to represent the Technical Groups.

British Canoeing has been shortlisted in the Best Learning Technologies Project – UK public and non-profit sector for its Coach Self-Analysis Tool and Digital Library.
Finalists for UK Coaching Awards
British Canoeing Awarding Body has been selected as a finalist for the UK Coaching Awards which is regarded as one of the most prestigious within the coaching community.
The Coaching Self-Analysis Tool and Digital Library has been recognised under the Transforming Coaching Award.
British Canoeing Challenge Cards
Challenge cards are a playful, creative resource designed to support coach and paddler development across a variety of paddling disciplines.
NEW Safeguarding Refresher eLearning
The safeguarding refresher eLearning training is applicable to Coaches, Leaders, Club Welfare Officers and all others who have a role working with children or adults at risk, who are required to maintain the currency of their safeguarding training every 3 years. The eLearning comprises two elements, a core training module which revisits and consolidates your previous safeguarding training, as well as an additional social media awareness module.
NEW Stadium Personal Performance Awards
We are pleased to introduce two new Personal Performance Awards, aimed at those white water paddling at a man-made, white water course. The Stadium White Water Award and Stadium Progressive White Water Award will be available from 4th January 2021.
