Presentation

As part of British Canoeing’s Athlete Development Framework (ADF), the High Performing People resource introduces the four pillars of characteristics, behaviours and habits identified as key to developing racing mental skills.

This resource breaks down each pillar of High Performing People and the attributes athletes may display at different points in their development, derived from the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework.

As a coach, you will find example principles of progression to support you in structuring your environment, coaching practice and planning.

Supporting the development of both the person and the athlete is about understanding the developing individual in front of you. Balancing the progressive shift between a coach-led programme of learning, to one with increased athlete ownership is essential.
