As part of British Canoeing’s Athlete Development Framework (ADF), the Crew Boat Skills & Technique resource introduces the specific skills and behaviours which should be considered when coaching athletes to race in crew boats.

For young athletes aspiring to the Olympic dream, crew boats play a significant part in development and learning these skills will be key in their continuing journey.

Each seat in a crew boat has specific tasks that are important to ensure the boat comes together. Athletes will need to adapt themselves in order to meet the needs of the boat and seat position.

Included in this resource are specifics for C2/C4 and K2/K4, covering the roles and responsibilities of the paddlers in different seats, as well as key technique factors.
